How To Care For Collector dolls
If you are a beginner doll collector there are some things you should know on how to take care of your collectibles. Most dolls hold their original value and some can even appreciate over time. But in order for the dolls to become worth something they must be kept in tact, with the newer dolls keep them in their original box and with the older dolls try to keep all accessories together like hair brushes or outfits, shoes and hand bags.
Don’t change anything on your dolls, not the shoes, not a hair out of place; dolls are worth more when they are kept in their original state. If you like creating new looks for dolls then use one that has little value. Another key to keeping your collectibles is to keep your dolls in proper storage. Some collectors keep their dolls on shelves and others keep their dolls in glass cabinets. Try to keep your dolls in a room that is normally not used, maybe a spare room.
If people smoke in your home it will greatly depreciate the value of the dolls. It will also leave a brown film on the dolls face and clothes. Only show your collection to a few people at a time, this way there is no chance of over crowding. If you keep your dolls in a glass case make sure the doors close properly, a properly sealed cabinet will keep dust off of them. Glass cabinets will keep the dolls protected from any spills that may occur.
The key to taking care of the collection is to not use cleaners on them, dust lightly with a feather duster if you do not have a glass cabinet. Keep the dolls out of sunlight. Some dolls when they are exposed to direct sunlight can fade.
